Shiraz & Grenache, AAA
Australia
£17.50
The Paxton family have been totally commited to biodynamic farming for over a decade and this reaps great reward in their McLaren Vale vineyards, in this quiet corner of South Australia, just south of Adelaide city.
The term AAA derives from when the Paxtons were involved in the sheep industry, and AAA was the top grade for fleeces.
It now also signifies there are 3 grapes in this red blend – 55% Shiraz and 41% Grenache, with a little drizzle of Mataro (aka Mourvedre) completing the blend.
Decadent and mouthfilling with hints of pine resin and balsamic from its 9-months in French oak, it is an exceptionally flamboyant yet enigmatically reserved wine… very Australian!
