Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise
France
£14.50
Lightly fortified during the fermentation to maintain sweetness, Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise from Domaine Bernardins is a deeply coloured wine with an orange tint to the appearence enhanced by the addition of some black muscat grapes in the cépage. Sweet and rich with orange blossom aromas, and ripe apricot fruit and almond overtones on the palate.
A wine unique to the Rhône Valley, Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise is a world-renowned natural sweet wine suitable for laying down, and one which almost disappeared entirely not too long ago.
Madame Castaud-Maurin oversees this idyllic eatate in the southern Rhône town of Beaumes-de-Venise on the lower slopes of Mont Ventoux. Here, the warm Mediterranean climate produces very ripe grapes, Muscat Blanc à Petits, a white wine grape of Greek origin that is a member of the Muscat family of Vitis vinifera.
