Cabernet Franc, Guarda
Argentina
£21.50
It is not often you come across Cabernet Franc on its own!
It usually features as part of a blended wine with its ripe and fruity characters. However, with judicious treatment in the vineyard (for example, low yields from each vine) and some sensible barrel ageing in the cellar (Guarda Cabernet Franc has enjoyed 12-months in French oak barrels) give a certain power and intensity to the wine with hints of cedar, eucalyptus and peppercorn.
A wine to enjoy now with big hearty plates, red meats, casseroles and the like or, if you wish, squirrel a couple of bottles away to let the wine mature and develop, and drink in a few years time.
