Barolo, Castagni
Italy
£32.50
First produced in 2004, Barolo DOCG Castagni is a great value wine, dense and fragrant with rich fruit and a whiff of smoke on the nose.
The west-facing marl and limestone vineyards produce a garnet red wine with orange highlights. The noticeably spicy bouquet features notes of red fruits, and is sapid and persistent on the palate.
An enthusiastic winemaker, Michele Reverdito gets the best from his vines and also offers very good value from his wines. Just 6,000 bottles are produced of Barolo DOCG Castagni, a wine which is a great example of his craft.
