Banyuls Grand Cru Baillaury
France
£27.50
The Grand Cru status of Banyuls dictates that a minimum of 75% of the cuvée should be Grenache Noir with, in this case the balance being Grenache Gris.
Aged in Cuve and Foudre, the wine is bottled after eight years of maturation. Dark and rich it has a softly sweet character with plummy notes and rich caramel flavours. Situated in the South of France the summer sun ripens the grapes to perfection and the convoluted ageing process does the rest to yield this unique and rewarding red wine.
