Our ‘go to house Claret’, Château Lamothe de Haux has been a perennial favourite with us all here at Stainton Wines for the since the late 1980s when we began importing it.
The grape blend is 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc, and Damien and Maria Chombart are the lovely resident vignerons.
Château Lamothe de Haux Côtes de Bordeaux is a ripe and generous wine but with a little ‘grip’ making it enjoyable either on its own, or with food.
At this level it is worth considering it as your go to red tipple, rather than a new world red at the same price, and what we’d consider to be a more authentic experience all round.
